With 41 full-ride Division 1 scholarship offers, Brandon Jones is one of the most heavily recruited high school football players in the country. ‘Five Star’ was selected as one of Vimeo's Staff Pick Premieres, a prestigious release platform aimed at helping festival favorites release in the digital space.
Five Star also played at SeriesFest and ITV Fest, both festivals aimed at promoting the best in independent television.
Here’s an interview with the film’s director, Ryan Booth and producer, Henry Proegler:
Ten Days is a documentary short that set out to explore the reality of dealing with a sudden diagnosis of longterm illness. However, the film, shot over the course of several months, continued to evolve and ultimately led to asking some profound questions about the meaning of success and what role "making it" can play in the lives of young, ambitious people.
Ryan's Synopsis:
"In the fall of 2015, while mindlessly thumbing through my Instagram feed, I stumbled across three images Michael Stevenson posted to his account. It was three white boxes, with the caption, "STARTING. FROM. SCRATCH."
I was intrigued, and after meeting up to chat about what prompted those posts, we embarked on a journey of trying to both understand and maybe even capture the moment. What follows is a film that has continued to morph and grow as realities changed before our very eyes. The film we set out to make is very different than the film you see here.
I'm incredibly grateful to Mike, for allowing me to poke around a very personal and meaningful moment in his life, and for his unflinching honesty about something we don't usually talk about in terms other than heroic."

A tonal profile of Vincent Staples filmed for Spotify during the SXSW music festival.
Over the course of a week, nearly a dozen profile films were created featuring a wide range of artists that played the Spotify House at the festival. St. Lucia, Miguel, Kacy Hill, Lucius, The Kills, and about a dozen others.
This film is made from some extra footage that never got used in any official capacity. The sun was going down and the profile piece took a different direction using primarily stage footage.
